Institutet (KI) in 1877, making us the oldest student association in Stockholm. MF\u00a0works daily to make sure that your education keeps the highest possible quality and that we represent the students in several decision making bodies within KI. As a member of MF, you can turn to us with questions about your study situation, the student life or problems with your education.<\/p>\n<p>Karolinska Institutet has two campuses \u2013 one in Solna and one in Flemingsberg. Regardless of whether you study at Solna or Flemingsberg campus, you are welcome to Medicinska F\u00f6reningen\u2019s union house in Solna or our premises in Flemingberg. Most of MF\u2019s activities are arranged in Solna since this is where we have our student union house \u201cK\u00e5rhuset\u201d. This is also where we host all our balls, parties and popular Friday Pubs.<\/p>\n<p>MF owns the bookstores on Solna and Flemingsberg campuses \u2013 Medicinska Bokhandeln in Solna and Harrys B\u00f6cker in Flemingsberg. This means that the prices here are reduced to fit a student budget and that your teachers can tell the bookstores what books to order in before a specific course.<\/p>\n<p>Getting involved in the student union is the best way to meet new friends and to make sure that your time at KI isn\u2019t only about studying! The best advice to anyone who wants to study in Stockholm is to seek out the city\u2019s housing queues, student-specific and others, and get in line as early as possible. A membership in Medicinska F\u00f6reningen gives you the opportunity to stand in a student-specific housing queue at SSSB.<\/p>\n<p>Below we have collected information and links to different forms of housing for new students in Stockholm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Karolinska Institutet Housing<br \/>\n<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kihousing.se\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.kihousing.se<\/a><br \/>\nKI Housing offers accommodation for foreign students\/researchers at Karolinska Institutet.\u00a0 You should sign up for the queue as soon as possible (e.g., even 12 months before your starting date) and no later than 3 months after you arrived to Sweden. There is no guarantee that they will find something for you, so it should not be your only option! If you do not receive accommodation through KI Housing, you will have to find housing on your own.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stiftelsen Stockholms Studentbost\u00e4der (SSSB)<br \/>\n<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sssb.se\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.sssb.se<\/a><br \/>\nThe largest distributor of student accomodation in Stockholm is SSSB (Stiftelsen Stockholms Studentbost\u00e4der). In order to be in the housing queue and to get an apartment from SSSB you have to be a member of a student association in Stockholm, like Medicinska F\u00f6reningen. Since the student housing situation in Stockholm is really bad the queues at SSSB are quite long. There are about 80 000 students here, but only about 12 000 student apartments (SSCO, 2012).<\/p>\n<p>Make sure that you always have the same email address and Swedish civic number registered to Medicinska F\u00f6reningen and SSSB, otherwise you may lose credit days. If you don\u2019t have a Swedish civic number it is extra important that SSSB and MF has the same email address registered for you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Akademisk Kvart<br \/>\n<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/akademiskkvart.se\/en\">www.akademiskkvart.se<\/a><br \/>\nAs a complement to SSSB, SSCO has started up a subleasing agency called Akademisk Kvart. Here you can rent a room or an apartment in second hand and it\u2019s easier to find somewhere to live faster. Although, since it\u2019s subleasing, it might not be as secure as a first hand contract, so make sure to get a signed deal with your landlord.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stockholm Housing Agency (Bostadsf\u00f6rmedlingen i Stockholm)<br \/>\n<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bostad.stockholm.se\/english\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bostad.stockholm.se<\/a><br \/>\nStockholm Housing Agency helps those searching for housing in the Stockholm region. Here you can search among different types of housing based on your needs. There are special apartments for youths and students. Everyone who has turned 18 years of age is welcome to register as a housing applicant. The cost is SEK 200 per year and you need a Swedish personal identity number or a co-ordination number. Your location or the fact that you already have housing does not matter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ByggVesta<br \/>\n<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/marknad.byggvesta.se\/#seekAreaMode=simple\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.byggvesta.se <\/a>(Swedish only)<br \/>\nAt ByggVesta\u2019s Campus Flemingsberg there are 433 newly built student apartments for both students and researchers. The apartments are between 20 and 80 square meters, and are suitable for single students or students who want to live with their family or a friend.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Huge<br \/>\n<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.huge.se\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.huge.se<\/a><br \/>\nHuge has around 700 student apartments in the Huddinge area, so for students at Huddinge Campus this might be an alternative.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Proventum<br \/>\n<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.proventum.se\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.proventum.se<\/a><br \/>\nProventum administers around 350 student apartments in Haninge.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Studenthemmet Tempus<br \/>\n<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/studenthemmettempus.se\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.studenthemmettempus.se<\/a><br \/>\nStudenthemmet Tempus has 251 student apartments right next to the metro station \u00c5keshov and offers apartments in a sober environment to university students.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hellenic Living<br \/>\n<\/strong>Fully-equipped, stylish and comfortable studio apartments 15 min from Stockholm City.
