Our Different Memberships
Student Membership
The student membership is the standard membership for those studying at the undergraduate, advanced, or doctoral level at Karolinska Institutet (KI). As a member of Medicinska Föreningen, you enjoy full rights and benefits.
To become a student member, you must:

Be enrolled in a course or program at KI for the current term.*

Pay the membership fee of SEK 250 per term. It is also possible to pay for a full year (two terms) at SEK 500. Note that you must be a student for the entire year to count as a member.
* Note: After you register in LADOK, it may take a few days before we receive the information from KI.
Exchange students who are not registered in LADOK can also become student members, for example:

Erasmus students, or students registered at another university in Stockholm but completing parts of their studies at KI.
If you are not registered in LADOK, we need the following to register you as a student member:

Contact information – Name, personal identity number, email, and home address.

A certificate confirming that you are studying at Karolinska Institutet, signed by your supervisor/teacher. You can be registered for one term at a time, so a new certificate is required each term. The certificate can be submitted at one of our student union offices or emailed to [email protected].

Payment of the membership fee.
Note: To receive a Mecenat card with the SL logo, you must be enrolled in at least 75% of your courses per term.
Supporting Membership
If you are interested in our activities but are not studying at KI, you can become a supporting member. A supporting membership is valid for one term (SEK 160), two terms (SEK 320), or two years (SEK 640). As a supporting member, you can participate in all activities organized by Medicinska Föreningen, except those specifically reserved for student members.
To register as a supporting member, we need:

- On hitract there are also employers who are there to connect with you based on what you’re studying, your passions and interests

Medicinska Föreningen
Medicinska Föreningen i Stockholm (MF) is the largest student union at Karolinska Institutet (KI) and together we work daily to make your time here as great as possible. MF monitors the education at KI and makes sure that they keep a high standard and that all students are well taken care of.
