Nursing Section (SSEK)

The Nursing Section (Sjuksköterskesektionen, SSEK) is the section for students at the Nursing Programme, Specialist Nursing Programmes, Radiographer Programme, Midwife Programme and Complementary Programme for Nurses from outside the EU/EES and Switzerland at Karolinska Institutet. As a member of Medicinska Föreningen and registered at one of the programmes you are a member of SSEK.

SSEK represents all nursing students at KI. All section members from their respective programmes are welcome to join SSEK’s section meetings and may speak their opinion there and move for decisions. However, only members of the section board has voting rights.

SSEK is represented in different commissions and committees related to the nursing programmes at KI. SSEK also has the following subgroups that section members can join: the party committee Festis and the kollo-group that organizes the introduction of new students.

SSEK works with educational matters, student welfare issues and internalization issues related to the section members’ education. We also aim to protect the common interests of our members as well as create and maintain a great social environment within the sections (in other words: “Baluns”!) We do this through the groups mentioned above, but also through less formal initiatives. You can turn to SSEK if you have questions concerning the programme, if you want to be a part of influencing your education or if you just want to hang out and meet students from other courses.
