Solvik is Medicinska Föreningen’s sports cabin on Värmdö right outside of Stockholm. It is a group of small cabins by the lakeside in moderately distant Beatelund. You can come here when you want to have a party, sauna, go canoeing, hang with friends, walk in the woods, lay in the sun, study in peace and quiet or watch passing boats.

At Solvik there are plenty of beds, jetties, a sauna and boats. The kitchen is normally equipped including dish washer and it is possible to cook for about 30 people. During the autumn, spring and winter seasons Solvik is rented per day and in the summer per week.

Taking the bus from Slussen and then walking the last bit takes about 40 minutes. Driving is of course faster.

Beds	24 beds + a few extra matresses and sofas.

Drinking water	The tap water in the kitchen comes from our own well and is drinkable.
Kitchen	Normally eqipped including oven, electric hob with fan, dishwasher.
Grill	Fire place and kettle barbecue is available.

Prices

Below is the current price list for renting Solvik. Member price is for student members of Medicinska Föreningen.
A deposit is placed for each rental. This is repayed after the stay with possible reductions for used wood, bad cleaning, broken things or similar.

Autumn, Winter, Spring
By weekday, Friday, etc., the arrival day is meant, i.e., the first day of the rental period. A rental day at Solvik runs from 15:00 (the first day of the rental) to 13:00 (the last day of the rental).

Directions

Kommunalt
Take bus 428, 429, or 430 from Slussen towards Ingarö. Check the schedule at sl.se Get off at Beatelundsvägen (Värmdö). Walk back 20 meters and turn left onto the road going uphill. Follow it for about 700 meters, then turn left onto the forest path marked with signs for Solvik. Alternatively, follow the road and keep left at all times.

Car

Address: Färjholmsvägen 3, 134 61 Ingarö

Drive on road 222 towards Gustavsberg. Take the Ingarö/Gustavsberg/Värmdö Marknad exit and head towards Ingarö. Turn right where the sign points to Beatelund (at the second bus stop you see). Turn left at the trash bins and then left again.

Keep in mind that the hill up to the sauna can be icy in winter, and sometimes you may need to leave your car by the sauna.

Boat
Follow Kolström eastward from Baggensfjärden. Solvik is located on the northern side, just before you pass under the bridge between Värmdö and Ingarö.

The Sports Cabin Committee

The Solvik Stewards, or the Sportstuga Committee, are students and former students who voluntarily take care of Solvik. The cabin, located by Kolström, the strait between Värmdö and Ingarö, has been owned by Medicinska Föreningen since 1961 and has been actively used by its members ever since.

The rental operations are managed partly by MF’s local administrator and partly by the Solvik Stewards, who handle both inspections and property maintenance. Maintenance work mainly takes place during so-called “fix events.” Typically, a fix weekend is held in the fall and another in the spring. During these occasions, the grounds are cleaned, docks are taken in or put out, wooden decks are oiled, firewood is chopped, worn-out blankets and mattresses are replaced, radiators and plumbing systems are checked, and inventory is reviewed.

During the first week of summer break, a full fix week is organized, where larger projects are carried out, such as building or replacing toilets, painting the house or windows, digging ditches, clearing brush, or, as recently, completely renovating the kitchen! The work during these events is carried out not only by the stewards but also by volunteer students and their friends, who play a crucial role in ensuring proper maintenance of the property and its surroundings.

We believe that there is currently a lack of understanding of the amount of work required to maintain Solvik and how much additional effort is caused by poorly executed cleaning, which falls on the inspecting stewards. The Sportstuga Committee therefore aims to raise awareness among our internal renters—who make up the majority of our users—while also increasing participation in our fix events. It is also worth mentioning that these events are often quite festive and frequently result in great camaraderie!

To ensure fair contributions, a participation requirement has now been introduced. Any MF body wishing to continue using Solvik free of charge on an annual basis must contribute the equivalent of two person-days (16 hours) of work at one or more fix events.

As an incentive, the associations or committees that provide the most workers will receive an additional free night at Solvik. These free nights must be used before the end of the year; otherwise, they will be forfeited. If a booking with a free night is canceled less than 28 days before the scheduled rental, the free night is lost.
