Postions of trust 2026

Since 1877, Medicinska Föreningen has been driven forward by committed members – students and alumni of Karolinska Institutet. Do you want to deepen your involvement in the student union’s work while gaining valuable experience for the future? Do you feel you have knowledge and skills to contribute to the union’s activities and help shape its development?

The application period has been reopened for the positions listed below.

It is now time to nominate or run for positions of trust within the Medical Association, as well as student representative positions for 2026. Read about all the positions below and submit your candidacy, or nominate someone you believe would do a great job. The final day to run or submit a nomination is December 22.

Vice President

The Vice Chair serves as the Chair’s deputy and largely has the same responsibilities as the Chair (see above). The position of Vice Chair may be held by a minimum of one and a maximum of three individuals. The specific duties therefore depend on how many Vice Chairs are elected. If more than one person is elected, the General Assembly decides the order in which they assume the Chair’s role in the Chair’s absence.

Typically, one person is elected as Vice Chair on a full-time salaried basis, in which case the responsibilities are divided equally between the Chair and the Vice Chair. With full-time remuneration, it is inappropriate to study or hold other employment simultaneously.

Chair person of the administration committee

The Chair of the Administrative Committee leads the committee’s work, which includes finances, management of the student union building and Solvik, and the association’s infrastructure, in collaboration with the association’s staff. The position is remunerated at 25%.

Operations auditors and substitutes

The Auditors’ task is to review the activities of the Medical Association to ensure that the statutes have been followed, that the organization is developing, and that decisions have been made correctly. This involves going through all the minutes produced during the year and providing a statement on how well the association’s bodies have fulfilled their duties.

Chair of the Education Council (UrO)

The Chair of the Education Council (UrO) works together with the Presidium to develop, coordinate, and strengthen the Medical Association’s student representation. As UrO, you will have the opportunity to work strategically on educational issues important to all students at KI, as well as build contacts and gain valuable experience for your future career!

You lead the Education Council (UR), where our sections meet to discuss cross-program educational issues, and you nominate student representatives who are then elected by the Board.

  • Language requirements: English and Swedish
  • The position is remunerated at 25%

Nominating Commission – chair, secretary and members

The Nominating Committee prepares elections for positions of trust and student representative positions to be elected by the General Assembly. This involves announcing the positions, collecting candidacies, and presenting their nominations to the General Assembly for who should be elected to the positions. Before submitting proposals, the Nominating Committee investigates, as far as possible, that the nominees meet the requirements for the respective position, for example by conducting interviews with candidates for central positions of trust.

  • Language requirements: Swedish and English (at least one member must have knowledge of Swedish)

Equal Treatment Commission – chair, vice chair, secretary, members

The Equal Treatment Committee (ETC) works to ensure equal conditions for all students, regardless of gender, gender identity or expression, age, ethnic background, religion or other belief, sexual orientation, or disability. The ETC addresses these issues both within the student union and in relation to the university.

The Chair of the Equal Treatment Committee leads the work on equality by acting as the committee’s main representative, convening meetings, and sending out documents beforehand. The Vice Chair assists the Chair in their work and acts as Chair in their absence. The Secretary records the minutes of the committee’s meetings.

Scholarship Committee – Chair and Members

The Scholarship Committee is responsible for preparing matters regarding the awarding of scholarships that the Board will decide on. This involves the committee proposing when the Board should announce scholarships from the foundations managed by Medicinska Föreningen, reviewing all submitted applications, and recommending to the Board who should be awarded the scholarships.

  • Number of positions: 1 Chair and up to 6 additional members, one of whom must also be a member of the Board
  • Term of office: January–December 2026
  • Eligibility: member
  • Language requirements: Swedish and English (able to read submitted applications)

Auditors and substitutes for the foundations managed by MF

The Auditors’ task is to review the management of the foundations administered by the Medical Association and ensure that during the fiscal year the law, statutes, and regulations have been properly followed. The Medical Association administers the following foundations:
