The main focus of LS is to work with student influence. We do this by representing all medical students in matters related to education and electing student representatives to different commissions, committees and work groups at KI that discuss and make decisions concerning the Medical Programme. All section members can be elected by the section board to be student representatives in any of these groups. By evaluating and reforming courses, participating in solving problems, voicing opinions and giving proposals for improvement and participating in long-term development processes, the sections’ student representatives have a great influence on the shape of the programme.
As a student you have a unique firsthand experience of the education at KI, and as an international student you may have a different perspective than most other students. If you have any ideas on how the medical programme at KI could be improved or on how the process of welcoming international students should be improved, please contact us. Your input is important to us, and we can help you promote your ideas.
During the course of the semesters the medical students are summoned to section meetings. There we discuss current issues related to the programme and check in with the student representatives to see how the work is progressing in the different commissions and committees.
Two to three times each semester, there are national meetings, called OMSiS-meetings, where representatives from different parts of the country meet to discuss educational matters related to the medical study programmes. This is an excellent opportunity to get to know students from other universities and learn how the medical education differs from place to place. The Medical Students’ Section coordinates these meetings in Stockholm and participate in all the remaining OMSiS-meetings around the country as well.
