Recipient of Parva Scintilla Medicorum 2021

Awarded to those who, for a shorter or longer period of time, have done indispensable voluntary work for Medicinska Föreningen in the area of study surveillance.

The Board has decided to award Parva Scintilla Medicorum 2021 to Jan Philipp Reising. Congratulations and thank you for your invaluable work for Medicinska Föreningen! The medal will be awarded at a small summer ceremony on the 28th of August.

Jan Philipp Reising

Jan Philipp Reising is known throughout our student society as thorough, caring and unafraid. Jan Philipp is a PhD student at the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health at Karolinska Institutet (KI). His positions within Medicinska Föreningen includes member of the Doctoral Students’ Association (DSA) board for many years, manager of the DSA Health and Welfare workgroup, and member of the Union Council (Fullmäktige).

Jan Philipp has shown true dedication for the cause of the mental health among doctoral students, and organized meaningful action, in order to improve the situation for doctoral students at KI. One example is his hard work with the mental health survey aimed to assess the status of mental health among doctoral students at KI, including coordinating the work, analyzing the results and presenting them to both students and KI leadership.

For his invaluable work within student influence at Medicinska Föreningen, the Board has chosen to award Jan Philipp Reising the honorary medal Parva Scintilla Medicorum.

Parva Scintilla Medicorum was instituted by the Board in 2012. It is awarded to someone who for a shorter or longer period of time has done invaluable voluntary work for Medicinska Föreningen in the field of study sruveillance. Examples of such efforts are far-reaching and persistent improvements in education/teaching/study conditions that have been beneficial to students at Karolinska Institutet.

The medal can be awarded to members, former members, student union staff and others who have been involved in Medicinska Föreningen. Parva Scintilla Medicorum is traditionally awarded once a year to a maximum of six recipients at the Spring Ball. The Board decides whom to honor with the medal.
