Re-election of Fullmäktige

The union meeting has on the 6th of January 2022, with support of the bylwas § 4.1.5 b., decided to dissolve the union council Fullmäktige 2021/22 and that a re-election will be announced. More information about the union meeting can be found here. The Inspector has, in accordance to the bylaws § 14.7.2 a., decided that the general election will take place between the 13th and 20th of February.

  • The Election Commission accepts applications from members who want to run in the general election between the 17th and 30th of January.
  • The sections need to elect section representatives and substitutes and inform the Election Commission about their decision latest on the 20th of February.
  • The re-election (the general election) among the members with right to vote will take place between the 13th and 20th of February.

About the union council and the election

What is Fullmäktige?

The union council, Fullmäktige (FuM), is the highest decision-making body of Medicinska Föreningen (MF). FuM consists of MF members that together make the large decisions within the student union, such as deciding about the activity plan, budget and strategic issues that affect all the members and students at Karolinska Institutet (KI). FuM elects the central positions of trust within MF and the central student representatives that represent us students in KI’s central bodies.

FuM consists of up to 29 members. Members to FuM are elected once a year in the union election in October and the term of office is from November to November. 15 of the 29 mandates in FuM are reserved for section representatives, and the remaining mandates go to members appointed in the general election. To lead the meetings of FuM, there is a speaker, a vice speaker and a secretary.

As a member of FuM and/or by voting in the election, you have the chance to influence what happens at MF, what our student life looks like and how we students influence our education at KI.

Timeline for the election

  • 17 - 30 Jan

    Application period

    Send in your candidacy to the general election! To be eligible to FuM you have to be a student at KI and a member of MF. You can also contact your section board if you want to represent your section in FuM.

  • 6 Feb

    Presentation of the candidates

    The Election Commission presents the candidates in the general election.

  • 13 - 20 Feb

    The general election

    All MF members eligible to vote will receive a voting link to their email and can vote for up to five candidates each – this will determine who will be elected to FuM in the general election.

  • 20 Feb

    Last day for sections to report their decisions

    The sections need to inform the Election Commission about their elected section representatives and substitutes latest on February 20th.

  • 22 Feb

    Presentation of the election results

    The Election Commission presents the election results!

Why should I candidate?

Influence what happens at MF – for real! Being a member of FuM means that you:

  • decide about strategic issues that affect all members
  • decide about the budget and activity plan for entire MF
  • learn more about how MF works
  • elect President, Vice President, Board and other central positions of trust within MF
  • elect the student representatives to represent all students in central bodies at KI
  • meet senior students and students from other educations at KI that you can learn a lot from and exchange experiences with
  • get valuable experience for your future and get really good merits for your CV and for exchange studies!

What is expected of me?

  1. Participate in meetings with FuM approximately three times per semester, about 2-6 hours/meeting.
  2. Read documents (decisions etc) before the meeting and participate in the decisions made at the meetings. The documents are in Swedish and you are therefore expected to be able to understand Swedish at such a level that you understand the issues being handled.
  3. To be a member of FuM, you need to be a student member of MF, i.e. you need to be a student at KI and a member of MF. Become a member here.

How am I elected?

  • Apply in the general election
    Submit your candidacy via the application form. All MF student members will then vote for a maximum of 5 candidates each in the general election.

  • Represent your section
    All sections elect one section representative and one substitute to represent the section in FuM. The three largest sections (LS, DSA, BUS) get to elect an extra representative and substitute. Contact your section board to find out how you can be elected as section representative or substitute.
